Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV), Indore was established in the year 1964 as Indore University. It is a statutory university of the state government of Madhya Pradesh by an act of legislature of Madhya Pradesh. The university is recognized under the state government and the University Grants Commission(UGC), New Delhi. In 1988, the university was renamed after the famous ruler of Malwa i.e. Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar. The university was accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). The University has also won the Centre of Excellence award by the Government of Madhya Pradesh.

The objective of the institute is to provide specialized high quality education to the students by incorporating traditional and modern scientific techniques in teaching-learning process through on-campus, distance and part-time programs offered in a flexible manner.
