Shivpal denies use of govt funds on MSY's b'day
VARANASI : A day after Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav adopted a village in Azamgarh under Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana, UP PWD minister Shivpal Yadav visited the district on Sunday to attend a wrestling competition. He denied spending of government funds on the birthday celebrations of Mulayam and said that all the expenses were met by party workers.
Announcing the establishment of a sports college in the district, he said that Mulayam and chief minister Akhilesh Yadav would visit Azamgarh after a fortnight and announce more schemes like bridges on Tons and Ghaghra rivers.
Shivpal said that the SP government had made a beginning and Azamgarh would not lag behind in the race of development.
On Saturday, Mulayam had adopted Tamauli village of Palhani block in Azamgarh, though he has so far not visited his parliamentary constituency after the Lok Sabha elections. Tamauli village, having a population of over 3,300, is about 7 kms away and falls under Azamgarh Sadar assembly constituency, represented by UP transport minister Durga Prasad Yadav.
