Varanasi: Veteran litterateur Manu Sharma, who was nominated among his Navratnas by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has announced to dedicate his savings to the PM's Clean India Campaign and has also nominated his Navratnas. Talking to the reporters here on Sunday, Sharma showed his solidarity with Modi in his Clean India Campaign. He said that despite being an elderly person he was ready to spend his all energy for the PM's mission.
He said in the 60-year career as litterateur he had made some savings of Rs 20 lakhs from royalty and felicitations received by him and has decided to dedicate this money for the creation of pucca ghats at those ghats along the Ganga which do nota have steps like other 83 ghats. This is the reason why people dump waste here and spoil the beauty of the place. He also nominated nine persons, classical vocalists Pt Rajan Mishra-Pt Sajan Mishra, folk singer Malini Awasthi and Mahant of Sankat Mochan Temple Prof Vishwambhar Nath Mishra as his Navratna to spread the campaign. He further added that he would launch the cleanliness campaign from his native place in Kabirchaura area from November 29. He said sanitation was an issue which begins from the mind of human being and healthy practices can be followed by bringing minor changes in personal habits and activities of daily life. He also shared his experience of his recent visit to Kashi Vishwanath Temple and said the filthy look of the streets leading to the temple was really shocking. This would definitely not give a positive message to the people visiting the city from across the globe, he added. He said the father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi had focused on this problem decades back and now the PM is emphasizing on the subject. People will have to ensure their participation in this campaign as it is the responsibility of all, he said. tnn
