"I'm absolutely delighted," the 28-year-old told the Irish Mirror. "It was so encouraging to know everyone at home was praying for me. It's a privilege to equal Mary Kom's record."

Flyweight Whiteside added silver to her bronze medal she won two years ago in China when she lost a close decision in the 51kg decider to American Marlen Esparza.

Ryan, 21, faced Russia’s reigning European light welterweight champion Anastasilia Beliakova, but was forced to settle for silver after being on the wrong end of an unanimous decision in the 64kg final.
