Ashoka Garden murder: 10 days on, accused not nabbed

More than 10 days after a man was allegedly murdered by Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) leader and accomplices, police have been unable to nab the accused.

BHOPAL: More than 10 days after a man was allegedly murdered by Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) leader and accomplices, police have been unable to nab the accused.
The accused, Deependra Shrivastava, considered a close aide of a local BJP MLA and five others, allegedly thrashed shopkeeper Sanjay Jain, 35, a resident of Roshanbagh Colony, on November 11.

Officials said Shrivastava's house has been locked after the incident. Police teams, including crime branch are on the job and raided a number of places in Bhopal and adjoining areas, but could not lay hands on the accused.
Initially, the police were reluctant to register a case, but the accused and five accomplices were booked in the wake of public outrage a day after day of his death.
Locals kept body outside the police station and women hurled bangles at cops, accusing them of being puppet of leaders.
In a damage control exercise, officials removed Ashoka Garden police station SHO Purnendra Singh.
The new SHO is yet to take the charge. They have announced a cash reward of Rs 3,000 on Shrivastava, but are yet to get a breakthrough, police said.
Kin of dead alleged that police are going soft on accused and gave them enough time to be at large after the murder.
