Sathya Sai trust’s drinking water scheme for 118 villages

Deputy Chief Minister inaugurates the Rs. 80-cr. scheme. The Karnataka Governor appealed to the Sathya Sai Central Trust and the devotees of Baba to complete all works that Baba had wished to see completed and thereby be ‘truly' blessed by Baba.

Deputy Chief Minister N. Chinna Rajappa on Sunday inaugurated a Rs. 80-crore drinking water supply scheme undertaken by the Sathya Sai Central Trust to provide safe drinking water to 118 villages of Bukkapatnam, Kothacheruvu and Puttaparthy mandals of the district .

Mr Chinna Rajappa participated as chief guest at the 89 birth anniversary celebrations of Sathya Sai Baba organised at Sai Kulwant Hall at Prasanti Nilayam in Puttaparthi as Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s scheduled visit to the district was cancelled.

A host of dignitaries, including the Governor of Karnataka Vajubhai Rudadhai Vala, Ministers from the district Paritala Sunita and Palle Raghunatha Reddy attended the event. Many TDP legislators from the district also attended.

Mr Chinna Rajappa said: “Sathya Sai Baba is Apara Bhagiratha, who has ensured supply of water to many a remote village in the State, including those in the Godavari districts and north coastal Andhra Pradesh besides 700 villages in the Nalgonda district".

He appreciated the selfless service that was being rendered to many poor at the super speciality hospitals run by the Sathya Sai Central Trust at Puttaparthi and Bangalore. Students passing out of the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning were making the nation richer in every field they chose.

The Karnataka Governor appealed to the Sathya Sai Central Trust and the devotees of Baba to complete all works that Baba had wished to see completed and thereby be ‘truly' blessed by Baba. A documentary with a speech of Baba was played to a visibly moved audience who sat in rapt silence and complete attention at the function.
