Substitute Antonio Floro Flores scored three minutes from time to hand Sassuolo a 1-0 victory at Torino which extended their unbeaten run to six games.

Sassuolo goalkeeper Andrea Consigli saved a first-half penalty from Juan Sanchez Mino to keep the scores level .

With the game in Turin looking to be headed for a draw, Flores headed a Sime Vrsaljko corner kick into the net to hand his team a valuable three points in their third win of the campaign.

The visitors had no shots on target in the opening half but showed an improvement after the restart.

The win in Turin has allowed Sassuolo to temporarily climb to 10th in the standings, three points clear of Torino, who have dropped to 14th place.

The home side went into the game looking to clinch their second win at home. Toro had also collected just one point from their past six games that had 12:30 kick-offs.

The Granata carved out the first chance of the game in the 15th minute when Consigli was forced to fully stretch to clear Omar El Kaddouri's bullet strike from the edge of the area.

The referee then pointed to the penalty spot after Fabio Quagliarella went down in the area following contact with Paolo Cannavaro.

Sanchez Mino stepped up to take the spot-kick on the half-hour mark and Consigli guessed correctly and kept out the Argentinian's left-footed strike towards the near post.

The hosts continued to press forward before the interval but could not find a way through.

Sassuolo finally tested Jean Francois Gillet three minutes into the second half when Domenico Berardi struck a powerful effort from 30 yards that was kept out by the Torino keeper.

Shortly after, Gillet kept out Simone Zaza's strike from outside the area as the away side started to come to life.

The hosts wasted a good chance to break the deadlock in the 59th minute. Quagliarella set up Bruno Peres in the box with only Consigli to beat, but the midfielder wasted precious time, allowing Cannavaro to close in and clear the danger.

Toro remained level when Zaza shot wide with an open goal in front of him, with Gillet out of position.

At the other end, Consigli kept out Quagliarella's goal-bound attempt.

Toro broke the deadlock when Floro Flores got past his marker and headed past a helpless Gillet.
