Madurai Corporation procures new ambulance, suction trucks

MADURAI: Mayor V V Rajan Chellappa on Sunday flagged off two new suction trucks which the Madurai Corporation has procured to clear clogging in the underground drainage system in the city.
The total number of suction trucks in the city has risen to four with the introduction of the new ones. Now each of the four zones has got a suction truck.
The trucks were procured at a cost of Rs 30 lakh each, the mayor said.
The mayor also flagged of an ambulance purchased at a cost of Rs 7.5 lakh. The ambulance will attend to emergencies at corporation maternity hospitals.
This is the second ambulance owned by the corporation.
