Director Pavan Kirpalani will soon be in Rajasthan to finalize the location, and the shooting will begin early next year
Pavan Kirpalani to cast Surveen chawla in his next thriller on blackbuck poaching
Even as the 1998 case of blackbuck poaching involving the cast of Hum Saath Saath Hain keeps dragging in the court, with the actors coming to Jodhpur for hearings, director Pavan Kirpalani of Ragini MMS fame is all set to make a film on poaching.
Pavan insists that the film, tentatively called Blue Blood, has nothing to do with the Salman Khan case, and is about the larger problem of blackbuck poaching in Rajasthan.
"The royal families have been poaching for many years, and the local Bishnoi community has been unsuccessfully trying to stop that. The blackbuck and cheetah are endangered species and still there's no stopping them. My film is about one such royal family , and how they're going to get a taste of their own medicine when the hunters become the hunted. I'm not basing it on the 1998 case at all, but that's the one example that comes to everyone's mind when there's any talk of poaching," he says.

Calling his film a `messed up family drama', the director says, "This isn't a dramatic social movie, it's a straight up thriller action film, and the subject resonated with me because this is one way I can I put my point across of how wrong poaching is. This is something that needs to be addressed."
Pavan's last two films, Ragini MMS and Darr @ The Mall, had supernatural or horror elements, so should we expect the same in Blue Blood as well? He says, "Horror isn't just supernatural, it can be a slasher film or a psychological thriller as well, so that's the treatment I plan to give this film."
For research on the film, Pavan has spoken to a few of his friends who belong to royal families, and is soon planning to come to Rajasthan to finalize a location for the shooting. “I haven't spent much time in Rajasthan before this, but I'm going to be there soon, and we're looking for a palace where we can shoot the entire thing. I'd like to live in that world and use as much of the surroundings as possible in the film,“ he says, adding that the shooting is scheduled to begin sometime early next year. And while the cast of the film hasn't been decided yet, producer Sunil Bohra says that they're planning to cast Surveen Chawla of Hate Story 2 fame as the female lead.
