TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Central Java provincial government is upbeat that the construction of a steam-fuelled power plant in Bunton Village, Adipala District, Cilacap Regency would begin next year.
Head of Central Java Mineral Resources Agency Teguh Dwi Paryono said that the power plan would be built by a consortium of businessmen from Indonesia and China.
“This power plant, with the capacity of 5x1000 megawatt, will serve a new industrial zone in Bunton Village,” Teguh said in Semarang, Friday, November 21, 2014.
PT Jawa Energi Baru, the name of the consortium, will make an investment worth Rp92 trillion.
The construction of the power plant is predicted to require four years for completion and will go through two stages.
The construction of the first stage will generate 2000 megawatt of electricity, while the second stage will generate 3000 megawatt of electricity.
Since the power plant will be used more for industrial purposes, the permit of the construction would be processed as foreign investment by the Investment Coordinating Board.
Teguh also said that the permit has been issued while the permit for business area, the provision of electricity and the matters related to the environmental aspects are still being processed.
In the meantime, Central Java provincial government is preparing the location for the construction, which consists of lands owned by the Army, the provincial government, and the residents.
Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo has received a team from the Cilacap local government to talk about the plan of the construction of the power plan.
“I also have formed a small team,” Ganjar said, adding that if the location, the investors, the funds and the technology are ready, he will give a report to the central government.
