The most popular programme for women on ETV-2 has a new ‘Sakhi’ these days. And making a successful transition from reading news to anchoring entertainment shows is Sujitha, who continues to grab the limelight with her appearances in Sakhi .

For the 29-year-old, though the tryst with television was unplanned, her career graph did take a more focussed upward curve. After completing her Master’s in Communication and Journalism and honing skills in animation, Sujitha actually landed in a television studio to pursue a career in graphic designing.

But then fate has its own designs, she concedes, adding, “It was ‘INews’ which took me as an anchor and initially I was hesitant and reluctant.”

After a stint with ‘INews’, Sujitha moved to ‘Zee24Gantalu’ where she had a five-year long run not only presenting news and conducting debates but also hosting other shows.

“I worked as a news presenter for ‘Express TV’ after ‘Zee24Gantalu’ but then decided to indulge in my passion for entertainment programming,” says Sujitha.

Teluguvaramandi and a few other shows on Doordarshan later, these days, she is hosting shows on ETV-2. And lucky she was to land an opportunity to present one of the longest running popular programmes Sakhi .

“In the news section, I want to hold serious discussions and debates but channels these days only prefer male anchors for such programming. That’s why I decided to move to entertainment,” says Sujitha.

Given her looks and composed news presentation style, there are offers to present news, but then she says her mind is made up for entertainment, at least for now.

Apart from Sakhi , Sujitha is also doing other shows such as Teertha Yatra and Lakshyam .
