RAMBAN, Nov 22: Patnitop police today seized 72 kilograms of poppy straw from a Srinagar bound vehicle on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
A police spokesman said that, police team from Patnitop police post laid a naka on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway and intercepted a Srinagar bound vehicle bearing temporary registration number PB 11Z-2263.
The driver sped up the vehicle and after abandoning the same, escaped from the spot.
During checking, police recovered 72 kilograms of poppy straw and seized the vehicle.
A case under FIR number 116/14 under Section 8/15 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at police station Batote and investigation started.
Police team led by incharge police post Patnitop SI Mohammad Irfan and Constable Abdul Rashid seized the contraband under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Ramban NS Parihar and SSP Ramban Javed Iqbal Matoo.
