MUMBAI: The first meeting of the high-level committee, headed by higher and technical education minister Vinod Tawde, to study the Bombay high court order on reservation for Marathas will be held on November 25.
“We are meeting on November 25. We have sought the view of all members on the issues to be raised before the Supreme Court. We will also study the orders passed by various high courts on reservations for other communities,” Tawde told TOI.

A week after the HC stayed the government’s order on reservation for the Marathas, CM Devendra Fadnavis had on Friday set up a five-member panel comprising Tawde, former deputy CM Ajit Pawar, former agriculture minister Radhakrishna Patil, leader of opposition Eknath Khadse and cooperation minister Chandrakant Patil to decide the future course of action. “We will engage best of the lawyers. Our effort will be secure a stay from the apex court on the HC order,” Tawde said.
The earlier DF government had issued an order to provide 16% reservation for Marathas in education and jobs, but the HC turned it down.
