SUNDAY’S CHILD

Sunday’s Child is Eddie, 10

My name is Edward. You can call me Eddie. I LOVE to build things with LEGOs!

Eddie is 10 and loves to be on the go. His favorite activities are playing with cars, drawing, watching cartoons, building with blocks, and playing with action figures — especially Transformers.

This friendly, fun-loving boy needs a family who will help him develop positive outlets for his energy. Eddie requires a lot of attention and can be demanding when he does not receive it. He is placed in a residential program where he responds well to structure and consistency. He has an Individualized Education Program in school to help him with delays in speech and language.

Like most kids, Eddie finds it easy to focus on the fun stuff but struggles to give his full attention to things he finds less enjoyable. The ideal family for him would be a nurturing, active family with older children or without children, who will be consistent with rules, expectations, and consequences. It is recommended that Eddie be placed with a single parent or in a two-parent female home.

National Adoption Month

Over 120,000 children and teens are in foster care in the United States, waiting to be adopted. During National Adoption Month, our traveling “Heart Gallery” display of waiting children in Massachusetts will be at South Station through Nov. 24.

On National Adoption Day, the Friday before Thanksgiving in Massachusetts, over 100 children who have been in foster care will be adopted into loving families in courthouses across the state. It’s a day to celebrate adoptive families and for courts to finalize adoptions. Since 2000, more than 30,000 children have had their adoptions finalized on National Adoption Day. Policymakers, judges, staff, families, and volunteers come together to celebrate in communities large and small across the nation.
