Lion Terry and Lions Lady Deidre Carroll, Lions Rodney O’Neill and Tony Fenech and Teacher Carolyn Baker accompanied the group on this fun day.
Thank you to Terry Carroll for suppling and driving the bus for the day.
The bus departed from the Grenfell Railway Station at 7.40am with the very excited group of Leos, arriving in Bathurst around 10am, just in time for the bowling alley to open.
The Leos formed teams and enjoyed two games of bowls.
Lions Tony, Terry, Rodney and Teacher Carolyn formed a team and had a fun time.
Tony forgot to let the ball go and almost ended up with a strike with him on the end, Carolyn was not sure which way the ball should have gone, because as she wound up, the ball came out backwards and almost caught the photographer (Deidre).
Following bowls the group enjoyed a very informal sausage sizzle in the maze park, where Lions Vice District Governor Roger Thomas and his wife Licia joined the group.
Accompanied by Carolyn, the group then hit the shops for some retail therapy.
Before leaving Bathurst the Leos were taken for two laps around Mt Panorama. .This was a highlight of their trip.
A stop off at Kentucky Fried Chicken at Cowra for a light snack put the icing on the cake and a thoroughly enjoyable day was had by all.
The Grenfell Pre-School and Long Day Care Centre recently applied for a Heritage Grant to paint the school.
This grant is on a $1 for $1 basis - hence they have a shortfall of $4,400.
A letter was received from the Pre-School seeking assistance and at their last meeting the members of the Grenfell Lions Club voted unanimously to assist the Pre-School with a donation of $1000.
The next Lions Market Day will be held at the Grenfell Railway Station on Sunday November 23 - 8.30 -1pm.
A free Jumping Castle will also be operating on this day for the littlies and Santa will pay a visit.
The Grenfell Town and District Band will be in attendance adding atmosphere to the day.
Lions will be operating their barbecue with bacon and egg rolls and sausage and steak sandwiches.
Stall holders are welcome to attend any may book by phoning the President Lion Barry Franklin on 6343 1130 or Secretary Lion Terry Carroll on 6343 1574.
The Grenfell Lions Club is once again assisting Santa with his letters. “Nobody is too old to receive a letter from Santa!”
Letters $3 each, the same cost as in past years.
These are great for your children, grandchildren; neighbours, friends at the club or colleagues at work
Your children will have their personal letters to Santa answered by sending it to Father Christmas PO Box 24 Grenfell and enclosing the $3 donation.
Letters and donations may be left with any member of the club who will pass them on to Santa.
You may also purchase a ticket for Santa letters at the Lions Club Street Stall on Friday November 28 or Saturday November 29.
It would be appreciated if letters could be in by December 10 to allow Santa time to read and answer them
The Lions Mini Lotto has reached the magical $10,000. (Unless of course someone won the jackpot last night)
Till then end of the month you still choose six (6) numbers from 20. The numbers will then decrease if the jackpot is not won.
Last week one lucky winner selected five numbers and received $70.
