Fear of being ditched, man stabs girlfriend nine times

SURAT: A 20-year-old woman was stabbed nine times by her 21-year-old boyfriend near Vankal village of Surat district on suspecting that she would not marry him. The woman was admitted to New Civil Hospital (NCH) Surat in critical condition.
The accused youth Inesh Gamit, a tailor, was booked by police for allegedly attacking his girlfriend Surekha, resident of Vankal. Surekha had an affair with Inesh since past two year.They developed friendship since Inesh is employed near Surekha's home.
They used to meet each other in farms around the village and on Friday Inesh took Surekha to nearby Ognisha village. The victim was stabbed by Inesh using knife on both hands and shoulder. The victim suffered nine cuts on body and was shifted to hospital in 108 EMRI ambulance. She is under treatment in the hospital in critical condition.
On coming to know about affair of Inesh and Surekha their family members agreed to get them married. Both the families were in favour of marriage and they were to finalise dates. However, due to some unknown reason Inesh attacked Surekha. Sources within family informed that Inesh had doubt on Surekha's intention to marry him. He feared that Surekha would not marry him and ditch him after two years of affair. Police are investigating the case.
