Seven fire-fighting units put out the flames within around half an hour of it breaking out around 7:40pm on Saturday.

Fire-fighters said the fire originated on the building's 18th floor, which houses Japan-Bangladesh Security Printing Press.

The building has 19 floors.

NSC's Stadium Administrator Md Yahia told bdnews24.com that they contacted the Fire Service right after the fire broke out. The building's electricity connection was also disconnected immediately.

Fire Service and Civil Defence Director (Operations) Mahbubur Rahman said they suspect an electric short-circuit in a room of the printing press caused the fire.

Around 8:15pm, Rahman told bdnews24.com that the flames were brought under control.

There were no reports of casualties yet.

The extent of damage caused by the fire also could not be ascertained.
