District Child Protection office to benefit children in need of care and protection

The opening of the district level child protection unit is likely to benefit children in need of care and protection and those in conflict with law to a great extent.
District Child Protection office to benefit children in need of care and protection
KOZHIKODE: The opening of the district level child protection unit is likely to benefit children in need of care and protection and those in conflict with law to a great extent. The district level office, that started functioning on Thursday will identify the needs of children in need of care and protection and children in conflict/contact with the law and address their needs by providing linkages with other departments.

The unit has been formed under the Integrated Child Protection Scheme of the Central Government. The intention behind the formation of the unit is to converge the operations of various government departments including health, police and social justice and ensure timely and appropriate interventions from them for protecting the rights of children.
District probation officer is in charge of the Child Protection unit and complaints regarding any kind of abuses on children can be filed with the unit, said Ashraf Kavil, district probation officer. Any complaint on abuse against children can be submitted at the office, said District Child protection officer Sheeba Mumtas.
