Why can’t the State government set up its own full-fledged forensic science laboratory (FSL)?
This was a question posed by the Karnataka High Court to the State government when it was noticed that trials in a large number of criminal cases were not commencing due to delay in receipt of reports from the Central Forensic Laboratories situated outside Karnataka. Justice A.N. Venugopala Gowda was hearing a petition related to a cybercrime in which the public prosecutor sought six week to file the response on behalf of the police for the reason that test reports are awaited from CFSL, Hyderabad.
Meanwhile, the public prosecutor told the court that he would inform the concerned authorities to take suitable measures on the issue.
