Kozhikode: The Valayam police on Friday registered a case against Abdul Rahman Saqafi, management representative of Darul Huda English Medium School in Parakadavu, where an LKG student was sexually abused recently.
He was booked under section 23 of the Juvenile Justice Act ( causing physical or mental torture to the child), section 201 (causing disappearance of evidence or to screen an offender) and 500 (defamation) of IPC. Parakadavu.
The parents of the girl had lodged a complaint against Saqafi for making derogatory statements against the child and trying to present an innocent person as the accused.
Meanwhile, Kuttiyadi MLA K.K. Lathika has given a complaint to the Home Minister demanding action against Thamarassery DySP Jaison K. Abraham who tried to subvert the probe and plant a bus cleaner as the accused in the case.
Kozhikode rural SP P.H. Asharaf had forwarded the parents’ complaint to Nadapuram DySP for further action and Valayam police, who handled the sexual abuse case, were deputed to handle this case as well.
The child’s father was summoned to the station on Thursday night and his statement was recorded prior to registering a case against Saqafi.
The parents had handed over some recorded audio clips of Saqafi in which he reportedly defamed the victim and her mother. The parents also accused Saqafi of trying to save the original accused in the case and propagating that the bus cleaner was the accused.
Several political organisations organized protest marches at Nadapuram on Friday demanding action against the school management and also against DySP Jaison K.
Abraham for trying to derail the probe. All India Democratic Women’s Association and DYFI activists organised police station marches on Friday at Nadapuram.
In her complaint to the Home Minister, K.K. Lathika alleged that Jaison K. Abraham was instrumental in derailing the probe in several other sensational cases, including the ice cream parlour case, Pantheerikara sex racket case and the Kozhikode apartment flesh trade case.
