PG answer-scripts reached varsity three days late
BENGALURU: The PG answer-script tampering scam at Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences is turning to be very big, bringing invigilators and a logistics company under police scanner. The Central Crime Branch (CCB) investigating the case has noticed a huge delay in transporting answer-scripts from various examination centres across the state to the university. Subsequently, it has seized answer-scripts of all the 900-odd PG students.
Answer-scripts should be dispatched from examination centres within 30 minutes of the exam getting over.

“Investigations revealed a considerable delay in answer-scripts leaving exam centres or in transit. In many instances, the delay was up to two-three days. We have to question the invigilators as well as logistics company officials about this,” joint commissioner of police (Crime) Hemanth Nimbalkar told TOI.
A logistics company has been given the contract for transporting answer-scripts from all centres to Bengaluru.
The Times of India first reported about the scam when RGUHS filed a complaint that 19 answer scripts of 10 PG medical students had been tampered with.
A university employee also lodged a complaint with Tilaknagar police in October, alleging tampering of answer-scripts in the post-graduate exams held earlier this year.
CCB-DCP Abhishek Goyal said 8,565 answer-scripts of all the 900-odd students of PG diploma, dental and medical courses were seized during a raid on the campus headquarters here. “We randomly selected 484 answer-scripts from different bundles and sent them for forensic examination. Nearly 600 students are from Bengaluru,” he said.
“Prima facie there is evidence of tampering in many answer-scripts. Stitches have been removed and pages in the middle seem to have been replaced,” he explained.
“We are not sure how many answer-scripts have been tampered with. Many scripts had damaged bar code, improper stitching and punched holes. The FSL report will be able to point out how many answer scripts have been with tampered with and the modus operandi adopted,” he said.
