Alberto Moreno claims Liverpool's reputation sparks fears into Spanish teams.

The left-back has been quite comfortably the clubs' best summer recruit having moved to Anfield from Sevilla in a £12million deal.

His arrival coincided with the Reds' return to the Champions League and Moreno insists the club are still feared by Europe's elite.

"In Spain, Liverpool's name commands respect and sparks fear into teams. The challenge of coming here excited me and there is much more to come from me," he told Four Four Two.

"It is a massive club, a club of champions with so much history. It didn't take long to decide I wanted to come here and I'm loving the challenge so far."

Moreno will be in Brendan Rodgers' starting line-up when Liverpool take on Crystal Palace on Sunday.

However, they must again do without Daniel Sturridge at Selhurst Park after the England man was ruled out until the New Year with a calf problem.

"Obviously we are all disappointed because of Daniel's injury," Moreno added.

"Everyone was looking forward to having him back in the team and we have all seen how important he is. He is a real threat to the opposition and will always score goals, so it is a blow.

"But we have a good squad of players and it is up to us to step up and find the goals from the rest of the team to keep our ambitions alive. We hope to keep improving and push up the table."
