Ambushed: PML-N youth wing leader shot dead

The official said the injured was rushed to Combined Military Hospital, Thal in critical condition

A local Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) youth wing leader was gunned down and his nephew suffered severe injuries when they were ambushed by rivals in Thal area of Hangu on Friday.

Thal police official Farid Khan said PML-N leader Zafar Ali Shah and his nephew Anjum were heading back home from Thal Bazaar when Habib Gul, Naeem Gul, Ashraf Gul and Naghmar Din allegedly opened fire at them, killing Shah on the spot and injuring Anjum.


The official said the injured was rushed to Combined Military Hospital, Thal in critical condition, while the suspects managed to flee. A case was filed against the accused gunmen.


Meanwhile Six suspected militants were arrested and a huge cache of light and heavy weapons were seized from their hideout during a raid on a house in the jurisdiction of Doaba police on Friday.


Hangu District Police Officer (DPO) Anwar Saeed Kundi told journalists the raid was carried out based on intelligence information.
