BJP promoting Congress's policies: Brinda Karat
DHANBAD: CPI(M) on Friday named Nandlal Paswan and Santosh Kumar Mandal as its candidates from Jharia and Sindri constituencies, respectively.
CPI(M) Politburo member Brinda Karat, who made the announcement at a press conference, said, "Our candidates will perform well and we are expecting to win both the seats. Since the formation of Jharkhand, Congress and BJP have ruled for long, but the condition of the state has only deteriorated.
The CNT Act was implemented in the state for the benefit of people, but corporate houses are deriving gains from it."
She also said that the working of government depicts that BJP is promoting the policies of Congress. Karat added that the government closed Sindri fertilizer factory even though it was making profits. "The liberalization policy of the NDA government is a threat to the state. BJP asked for votes in the name of development, which is yet to be seen," she added.
Speaking about a possibility of a pre-poll alliance with any party, Karat said, "In the present scenario, alliances can happen only when parties compromise on their ideology".
Ruling out any alliance with Trinamool Congress, Karat said West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee's political credibility is at stake following Saradha Chit Fund scandal.
"New names involved in the scandal are surfacing daily. So she is talking about cooperation with CPI-M to divert the attention of people from scandal and terrorism," Karat said. "It is she who brought BJP in West Bengal by holding hand but now is talking about fighting against communalism. There is no question of shaking hands with Trinamool Congress ever," she said. Karat said that such types of scandals never occurred during 34 years of Left Front rule in West Bengal.

The CPI-M Politburo member also ruled out the possibility of alliance with different political parties at national level like 2004 to oust NDA government in New Delhi.
Karat accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of adopting a double standard when it comes to black money. "At Brisbane G20 summit, Modi expressed concern over black money BJP is using lots of black money in the Jharkhand assembly election," she alleged. She also brushed aside the reports of differences between CPI-M General Secretary Prakash Karat and Politburo member Sitaram Yechury on any issue in the party. "Decision is taken collectively after discussion. It was unanimously decided in 2009 to withdraw support from the then UPA government," she said.
Karat also said tthat that black money is being used by different political parties in Jharkhand assembly election. "BJP, Madhu Koda with the support of Congress and all other parties that ruled Jharkhand and looted state's natural resources in the last 14 years are draining black money like water in this assembly election to wrest the power," she said. "Digital vans, rampant use of helicopters like cars, display of giant hoardings are indication use of black money," she said.
