Rima Kallingal and Manju Warrier, who have portrayed powerful roles in some of the new age women-centric films in Mollywood, will team up for Aashiq Abu’s next directorial venture.
The movie titled Rani Padmini will start rolling in the beginning of next year and is scripted by Shyam Pushkaran and Ravi Shankar.
Scriptwriter Shyam says, “This story developed as we pondered on the issues faced by women during road trips; a woman travelling alone is not considered safe in our country.
Both Rima and Manju play modern women in the film, which will be a travel movie. Rima plays Rani and Manju will play Padmini.”
The film will be shot in Kochi, Himachal Pradesh and Delhi. “The team has not decided on the rest of the cast yet,” says Shyam.
Manju, who is currently working in Sathyan Anthikad’s Mohanlal-starrer, had made her re-entry into Mollywood through a powerful role in the women-centric film How Old Are You. Rima also emerged as an icon of women empowerment and even won a State Award for her role in 22 Female Kottayam, directed by her husband Aashiq. She is also playing the lead in the upcoming project Chirakodinja Kinavukal with Kunchacko Boban.
