    Haryana: Krishan Bedi calls on SC Commission Chairman to safeguard rights of SC, ST and OBC

    Krishan Bedi lauded role of Punjab SC Commission in getting police cases lodged against culprits wherein any member of Scheduled Caste is harassed.

    CHANDIGARH: In a bid to chalk out a collective strategy to safeguard the rights of SC, ST and backward classes, Haryana Minister Krishan Bedi today called on Punjab SC Commission Chairman Rajesh Bagha here.
    Haryana Minister for Social Justice and Scheduled Castes Welfare Krishan Bedi after meeting with Bagha, appreciated the role of Punjab SC Commission in getting police cases lodged against culprits wherein any member of Scheduled Caste is harassed.

    Explaining the role played by the Commission in popularising the post-matric scholarship scheme among rural SC students and ensuring total transparency, Bagha said the Commission has ensured the timely release of Rs 149 crore for the scheme this year and its disbursements through online system, an official release said.

    Bedi said the Haryana government would like to replicate this model in the state and can avoid any "pitfalls" in delivery of service to actual beneficiaries.
