For our weekly column on the apps and gadgets that people from different walks of life love and can't live without, we catch up with Sanjay Aggarwal, MD, Fortum India. Fortum is an energy company with its headquarters in Finland, and it has a particular focus on solar energy in India.

Aggarwal has nearly 30 years of experience in the energy industry, but he's also a technology enthusiast - he has a blog - it's updated a little infrequently but has some really nice posts on street food - and plays video games on an Xbox with Kinect, while one of the apps that he says he uses every day is a brain training game.

Here's a look at how the gadgets he works and plays with:

Describe your technology setup - what computer/ phone/ tablet/ camera/ gaming console/ other gadgets do you use?
Sanjay Aggarwal: I use an Apple iMac at home. At work I have a Lenovo ThinkPad. For communication I have an Apple iPhone 5 and iPad Air Wi-Fi. I also love spending time with my Microsoft Xbox 360 with Kinect, which is always ready to throw me a challenge.

What are three apps (mobile/ tablet or PC/ Mac) you couldn't live without?
Sanjay Aggarwal: There are many and it's really difficult to select three. However, the most used ones are WhatsApp, Skype and Lumosity. WhatsApp and Skype help for both work and personal communication, and Lumosity is fun and keeps your brain nimble.

What is one gadget (other than your phone) you never travel without?
Sanjay Aggarwal: A mobile battery charger.

What is your dream gadget/ technology setup?
Sanjay Aggarwal: Today, with the advent of smartphones, battery life span has become shorter. I wish that someday we'll have a phone utilising the energy around us, such as solar or wind rather than using a battery.

How has technology changed the way in which you work?
Sanjay Aggarwal: I am always connected. Anybody can reach out to me and I can reach out to anybody at any time, share thoughts, share images. Productivity has leap frogged geometrically and I can accomplish far more in 24 hours than before.
