Girlfriend battles for life as youth fires at her

BHOPAL: Upset over strained relations, a youth shot at her girlfriend and later put the country-made pistol to his head and pulled the trigger in Satna district on Thursday evening. The 26-year-old died in hospital and the girl is struggling for life.
The incident took place at Amodha Kalan village of the district.
Police said Santosh Kewat, 26, fired at Sarita Ahirwar, 25, around 4.30 pm on village outskirts.“Santosh had an affair with Sarita but sometimes ago Sartia had stopped talking to him. A couple of days ago, Santosh tried to threaten her. Today while she was returning home, Santosh fired at her with the pistol and then after walking for some distance he shot himself,” civil lines police station in charge Ashok Singh told TOI. “She is admitted to hospital and Santosh has succumbed,” Singh said.
