BHOPAL: A day after a 28-year-old married woman committed suicide by hanging herself in Ayodhya Nagar area, a dowry death case was registered in wake of investigations.
The woman was tortured by her in-laws and husband and there were injury marks on the body, a fact that came out in police probe.
Monika Sahni, 28, a native of Ashok Nagar district, was married to Pankaj, grocery shop owner, here in 2012 and had a daughter.
Besides her husband, his brothers Neeraj and Deepak, parents Karan Veer and Chandrakanta were made accused. None of them has been arrested.
During investigation, police came to know her in-laws had dumped her at Bina railway station in June this year. But she returned. She had lodged a complaint against her in-laws in Ashok Nagar. But they reached a compromise.
Before ending her life, she had called up her father in morning, informing her in-laws were torturing her. However, by noon her parents came to know that she was dead. Her parents also told the police that she was being tortured since marriage, police said. The woman’s daughter would be handed over to her parents.
