Anbumani ready for Chief Minister battle

PMK could provide an alternative fill the void thus created by the decimation of both the AIADMK and DMK
Chennai: PMK on Thursday predicted a complete rout of Dravidian parties in 2016 Assembly polls and said it will fill the void thus created by the decimation of both the AIADMK and DMK.“The present political situation prevailing in the state is akin to that of 1967 when DMK came to power for the first time defeating the Congress,” PMK leader and former Union minister Dr Anbumani Ramadoss at the party’s executive committee meeting where leaders favoured formation of an alternative front against the DMK and AIADMK and projection of Anbumani as CM candidate. A resolution will be adopted at the party’s general council to be held on Friday.
Stating that no other party than PMK could provide an alternative to the Dravidian majors, he said Congress has been split and facing internal troubles while BJP is a small party in the state. “I need not say anything about Vijayakanth’s party. You know about it,” he said. PMK founder Dr S. Ramadoss said time has come to uproot both the Dravidian parties from the power in the state and it could be done only by his party.
Senior PMK leader advocate K. Baalu said that if anyone made a list of potential CM candidates in the state, there would be no match to that of Dr Anbumani whose record as Union health minister speaks for itself. “What is the achievement of DMK treasurer and former deputy chief minister M. K. Stalin, who was shadow CM for four years,” he asked.
