3 killed in hit-and-run accident

Three pedestrians lost their lives in separate hit-and-run accidents in two days. The vehicles and drivers, who fled from the spot in all three cases, are yet to be traced.

PUNE: Three pedestrians lost their lives in separate hit-and-run accidents in two days. The vehicles and drivers, who fled from the spot in all three cases, are yet to be traced.
In the first accident, a 27-year-old man was killed near Kothrud police station on Tuesday. The Kothrud police said the deceased, Santosh Laxman Mundhekar (27), from Shastrinagar in Kothrud, was crossing the road when he was hit.
Police are checking CCTV footage in the area.
Salim Nadaf, assistant inspector of the Kothrud police station, said the accident took place around 10.30pm. “A speeding vehicle knocked down Mundhekar near the police station and the driver fled with the vehicle.”
On Monday night, a 52-year-old woman died after she was knocked down by a speeding motorcycle on Undri Road. The Kondhwa police said the deceased, Shantabai Husnagi of Kadnagar in Undri, was walking home.
The same night, a man aged about 35, was killed after a speeding motorcycle hit him on Fergusson College Road.
