Energy Infrastructure Contract for Kabul  Signed Between DABS and Siemens

KABUL – A Contract has been signed between Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) and M/s Siemens Engineering Comany Ltd. On Wednesday for the Design, Supply, Installation, Testing and Commissioning of Kabul South West 220/20 kV Substation Project (Arghandi). The substation is located next to Chawk-e-Arghandi area.

The main objective of the project is the construction of Kabul South West 220/20 kV substation in Arghandi to reinforce the power supply system for the City of Kabul and to supply power to South and South-West Provinces of the Country. This project forms part of the high voltage (HV) transmission network of the North East Power System (NEPS).

The project includes the design-build (including detailed design, supply of plant, construction, installation, testing and commissioning) and completion of substation works involving 2 x 63 MVA, 220/20 kV power transformers, an interbus 400 MVA, 500/220 kV transformer, 4 x 220 kV double circuit line feeders and 12 x 20 kV line feeders for power supply to Kabul South West 20 kV distribution project, among others.

This project cost is estimated at USD 20,971,444, being implemented under Energy Sector Development Investment Programme (ESDIP), ADB grant no. 0184 - AFG – MFF-Tranche 2 and is expected to be completed by the end of November 2016.
