Konkona Sen Sharma is just back from Bhopal where she was shooting for Prakash Jha’s Productions’ Lipstick Waale Sapne. The film that is being helmed by Alankita Srivastava who directed Turning 30!!! is set in Bhopal and talks about the journey of four women. While Sen plays one of them, Ratna Pathak Shah, Ahana Kumbra (TV series Yudh) and a newcomer are the others.
“My character is called Shirin Aslam and will be seen be wearing a burqa most of the time in the film. But she’s a real funky woman with a very interesting track. Together with the three other characters, she shares a very intriguing and unusual journey. Sushant Singh plays my husband in the film,” says Sen who has shot for a week and will be going back at the end of the month for the next schedule.
Meanwhile, the actress is working on her script for her directorial venture, Death In A Gung. Gung, she explains is associated with certain (ghetto like) places, like upper Dharamsala is more commonly known as Mcleod gung.
“I was inspired by the stories my dad used to tell me as a kid. The twisted, dark content of Death In A Gung sparked my imagination. It is gripping and based on a true story which I have fictionalised. The script is ready and I am working on my third draft. Then I will look for funds, which may be difficult to find because it’s a small and unusual film and will not have any big stars and songs,” added Konkona.
Talking about her other assignments, the actress reveals that there is Ananth Mahadevan’s Gaur Hari Dastaan in which she plays a 60 year old, the wife of a freedom fighter Gaur Hari. “I am also working with Meghna Gulzar in her film Talwar, which has Irrfan and Sohum Shah. We have finished one schedule and another is left. But I cannot reveal anything more about the film,” said Sen Sharma.
