Neha Dhupia is on a roll. Not only has she received good feedback for her last film Ekkess Topon Ki Salaami, her much awaited next, Ungli is also up for release. However, what has brought back sweet memories of her modelling days for the actor is her stint with the Kingfisher Supermodels 2 which sees Dhupia hosting it and mentoring the contestants.
The show that began on November 8 on NDTV Good Times will see 10 supermodels battling it through the course of 13 episodes.
Dhupia, who won the Miss India pageant in 2002, says that life seems to have come a full circle. “It took me back to the time when I was a part of a beauty pageant. After being with these girls, I realised that it is not about winning or losing, it’s more about enjoying the moment.”
The stiff competition among the 10 models will highlight their personalities and behaviour. Industry stalwarts from the fashion and film industry, including Atul Kasbekar will groom the girls and finally evaluate them. So every episode is a contest in itself. Some of the tasks that the models will be seen performing are Indian Prop, Indian Cycle Rickshaw, Peta Go Vegan, Crane and Aeriel among others.
Dhupia says that among the three responsibilities of anchoring, mentoring and judging the contestants, she finds judging the most difficult. “All the 10 contestants are extremely talented which makes it difficult to choose one over the other,” she says.
The actor, however, believes that even if a model doesn’t win the contest, the exposure one gets on a show like this, opens enough doors to excel in the industry. “All the contestants from last year are doing well and I am sure these girls will find a foothold as well,” she concludes.
