Actress Sneha Wagh on what she remembers most about Jaipur & why she won’t do reality TV
Sneha Wagh plays a mature mother of two in the TV show Ek Veer Ki Ardaas…Veera, but when she was in Jaipur recently, she was in her off-screen mode – bubbly and chirpy. “Even when people see me in all this get-up, they say yeh toh bilkul ma nahi lagti. I deliberately stayed away from white strands in my hair or black patches under my eyes.
Kitna funny lagega, face itna young aur phir white strands!” she told us.

About a year ago, Veera took a leap of 15 years, and Sneha ended up playing the mother of two grown-up children. Was she apprehensive about being typecast when that happened? She explained, “Even towards the end of my first show, Jyoti, I’d become a mother on screen, but yes, here I play a mother to people who’re my age in real life. But I feel that on TV, you don’t get typecast like this. My first scene after the leap was with the actor who plays Ranvi, and for one hour before that I was just sitting and wondering, ‘how can I play his mother?’ I just couldn’t imagine myself like that. When the leap had just happened, I used to keep a little distance from the new cast members. I didn’t want to mingle with them because I was going to play their mother. Sabko lagta tha badi snobbish hai, but but I was doing it for my work. Slowly, it became easier for me. And now I am very pally with all of them, and we hang out together.”
When asked about how she wants her career to go from here, Sneha said, “Now I want to do something different, maybe a mythological show or something historical.” No reality TV? “I’m not a bad actor. I can make my career and earn my bread and butter from acting. Plus, I can’t handle the pressure of reality shows. I’ve done one in Marathi – a dance reality show. But somewhere you know that sometimes things aren’t very fair in them, and I’ve always been fair in my life, so I just can’t handle all that,” she added.

Sneha’s Jaipur visit was a very short one, but she said that she’s familiar with the city. “My debut show was set in Udaipur, so I am very familiar with Jaipur. I don’t come often, though. But during Jyoti, all our outdoor shoots used to happen in either Jaipur, Udaipur or Jaisalmer. Jyoti used to drive her two-wheeler everywhere, so we shot many such candid scenes on Rajasthan roads. What I remember most about Jaipur is the crisp sun. Even today, when we landed, it was so cold and now the sun is so strong. I like that weather. I have also collected artifacts from Jaipur, like little camels from the Walled City. I’ve bought leheriya for myself and my mother. I have very fond memories of this city,” she said.
