‘Blue Colts’ to maintain vigil round the clock

A new police force that will keep vigil round the clock and reach instantly to any spot of distress ‘Blue Colts’ was launched here on Thursday by DIG of Police, B. Malla Reddy.

The new force, functioning under the supervision of a Sub-Inspector from the police headquarters, will work in two shifts – 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. As and when they receive a call, two men from the respective police station will reach the spot on two-wheelers.

They would rush to the rescue of victims of eve-teasing, chain-snatching, violence against women and road accidents. They will assess the situation and inform top officials.

Mr. Malla Reddy said the force had proved successful in the State capital and was happy to launch the wing in Warangal. “The force working in this ‘Blue Colts’ wing will be equipped with latest gadgets like android phone,” he said.

Mr. Ambar Kishore Jha said that to begin with, the ‘Blue Colts’ will be available at Matwada, Intejargunj, Mills Colony, Subedari, KUC, Kazipet and Hanamkonda in Urban areas and at Thorrur, Mahabubabad, Mulugu, Parkal, Bhupalpalli, Jangaon, Narasampet and Dornakal mandals.

People in distress in rural areas may call 9440904666 and those in urban areas may call 9492266403 and 9492266470. Additional SP (Traffic) S. Anil Kumar, DSPs K. Dakshina Murthy, Himavathi, Raji Reddy, Janardhan, Ramesh and other officers were present.
