SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 20 (UPI) -- Coffee giant Starbucks rolled out wireless chargers for smartphones at 200 of its stores in San Francisco Wednesday and they will soon be available nationwide.

"We are thrilled to offer our Bay Area customers the next level of convenience with Powermat wireless charging. This first market installation is a first step towards a national deployment of this amenity in our stores," said Adam Brotman, chief digital officer at Starbucks, in a statement.

The Duracell Powermats will be placed on each table and customers can attach their phone to them when their battery gets low. The chargers technically only work for AT&T phones, but Starbucks will loan "rings" that can attach to any smartphone and make them pad compatible.

In addition to having them on loan for customers, Starbucks will sell them for $9.99.

The Huffington Post reports there are about chargers eight of them in each store.

They will be launched in the U.S., Europe and Asia within the next year.
