The anti-corruption watch-dog Lokayukta police on Thursday caught a patwari of Khargone district of Madhya Pradesh red handed while taking bribe of Rs 8000.

INDORE: The anti-corruption watch-dog Lokayukta police on Thursday caught a patwari of Khargone district of Madhya Pradesh red handed while taking bribe of Rs 8000. The accused had demanded bribe to settle property partition case of two brothers.
Patwari Sunil Soni posted at Jhirnia in Khargone district was arrested and booked under section 7, 13(1) D and 13(2) of Prevention of Corruption Act for taking bribe, said the police.

Soni had demanded bribe of Rs 12,000 for dividing 10 acres of ancestral land that two brother received after their father's demise. Mohan Kanungo wanted the agricultural land in Badi village of Khargone to be divided between him and his brother. For the work, Patwari was demanding bribe of Rs 12000. However, the deal was fixed over Rs 8000.
Meanwhile, Kanungo lodged a complaint with Lokyukta against the patwari, which set a trap and caught Soni red handed. Bribe money was recovered from his pocket.
