MPs want shatabdi to Dwarka from Ahmedabad

Currently, there is only Shatabdi for Mumbai from Ahmedabad.
MPs want shatabdi to Dwarka from Ahmedabad
AHMEDABAD: The Member of Parliaments in an annual budget planning meeting of Western Railway (WR) have raised the demand that the state should have a second Shatabdi train to run within the state.
A Shatabdi from Ahmedabad to Dwarka via Rajkot should be approved was the demand from the MPs. Currently, there is only Shatabdi for Mumbai from Ahmedabad.
The meeting was chaired by WR general manager Hemant Kumar.
Also MPs demanded that the work on the Delhi track should be taken up on prority. Kumar assured the MPs that the finances for the major projects including the double track for Ahmedabad-Delhi and also the electrification project along the same track will be made by the railways in the financial year 2015-16. The project has been cleared and the survey work also has been completed.
There were several suggestion which were made including improving connectivity from Saurashtra, Vadodara and Surat for various parts of country.
The MPs laid emphasis on more trains to Southern part and North part of the country. The MPs also made representation that Ahmedabad should be connected via Mehsana, Radhapur to Kutch as this was a shorter way. Also the MPs urged the general Manager to complete the broad gauge conversion for Ahmedabad-Mehsana, Kalol-Ranuja and Mehsana-Chanasma at the earliest.
