Finalize procedures to monitor STF probe: Madhya Pradesh HC to SIT chief
BHOPAL: Madhya Pradesh high court on Wednesday directed chairman of newly constituted Special Investigation Team (SIT) to convene a meeting to discuss operating procedures to monitor special task force (STF) investigations into Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) scam within a week.
SIT chairman justice Chandresh Bushan has been asked to conduct this meet at his residence.
Jabalpur bench of MP high court had on Wednesday constituted a three member SIT- headed by retired justice Bushan, who retired as deputy Lokyukta in January this year. Two other members of SIT are retired IPS officer Vijay Raman, a 1975 batch IPS officer, and I T expert L M Reddy. During the hearing state government produced consent letters of all three dignities before the court.
Court ordered that the SIT chairman and members would be getting wages they had been drawing at the time of their retirement. State government has been asked to provide all necessary facilities to SIT for smooth functioning. Next hearing has been posted on November 28.
HC had on Wednesday disposed of a bunch of petitions seeking a CBI probe into alleged scam and ordered that a SIT be set up to monitor investigations conducted by STF.
In its 98-page order, division bench of Chief Justice Ajay Manikrao Khanwilkar and Justice Alok Aradhe disposed of petitions filed separately by senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh, local corporator Rajesh Sonkar and seven others with a direction that SIT will oversee the probe. HC had earlier dismissed similar petitions seeking a CBI probe.
Former chief minister, Digvijay Singh had demanded a CBI probe in the scam.
