LCD screens at Attari gallery soon
AMRITSAR: Border Security Force (BSF) has decided to install big LCD screens and online booking for watching the daily beating the retreat ceremony at Attari border.
The BSF had been contemplating to introduce these steps following the November 2 suicide bomb attack at Wagah in Pakistan in which 61 people were killed.
Talking to TOI on Wednesday, BSF inspector general Ashok Kumar said they were considering installation of one large LCD in the outer area of the gallery and after that more LCDs could also be set up.
He also said they would soon begin online registration of seats at the gallery and would keep around 1000 seats for on the spot booking.
With these measures, at least 6,000 viewers would be able to get confirmed seats while others could get seats on the spot.
So far no such measures have been initiated at Hussaniwala and Sadqui beating the retreats ceremony at Ferozepur and Fazilka borders.
Sources told TOI that senior BSF officials held a meeting to strengthen security arrangements at Hussaniwala and Sadqui at par with Attari ceremony. "Venue of Hussaniwala flag lowering ceremony is equal or rather more riskier than Attari," said sources.
Sources also informed that BSF was contemplating to introduce Golf Cart or battery-operated vehicles at Attari for the convenience of elderly and disabled people.
