Three booked for assault in Nagpur

NAGPUR: Three youths assaulted 27-year-old Shaikh Aasif of Shanti Nagar over a trivial issue near Kawrapeth railway crossing on Tuesday night.
Lakadganj police have arrested accused Shaikh Wasim, Shaikh Azhar and another named Guddu. Aasif told police that he was heading home with his friend when three youths stopped them. He claimed that the trio was about to attack his friend.
However, since his friend fled, the trio assaulted him with sharp weapons on head. Aasif was immediately shifted for treatment to nearby Mayo Hospital. Police said that he was stated to be out of danger. Cops suspect old rivalry as the reason behind the attack.
Youth killed in mishap
A youth was killed when he rammed his speeding bike against a raised platform of a temple on Tuesday night. Police said Sagar Vaishya, 28, a resident of Lalganj, was riding his motorcycle rashly when he lost control over the vehicle and dashed against the platform of the Jain temple near Itwari Kirana Oli. The accident took place around 12.30am.
Builder booked
A housewife Shweta Raut and her two-year-old daughter Trishita were injured when the slab of the flat they live in, at Mercury Villa apartments on Nari Road, suddenly collapsed. Jaripatka police booked the builder Anuj Jejani, 33, a resident of Dixit Nagar, for the substandard construction.
