NIA to grill Khaled on Burdwan blasts, terror training

Hyderabad: The National Investi-gation Agency took Khaled Mohammed, a Myanmar national, to Kolkata for further investigations. Officials said they produced Khaled before a court and he was sent to judicial remand.

Khaled will be interrogated by Kolkata NIA officials regarding the Burdhawan blast and the terror training he received in the past.

During interrogation, Khaled had revealed that he first went to Kashmir after crossing the Indian border, NIA officials said.

Meanwhile, Khaled’s family was called to the city NIA headquarters for an inquiry regarding his background on Wednesday. The family said they went to Kashmir as they did not know where to go.

The family has approached their community leaders claiming that Khaled is innocent and is being framed in the case by “vested interests.”

Khaled will be interrogated by Kolkata NIA officials regarding his background and the nature of his training.

The National Investigation Agency arrested Khaled Mohammed, a 28-year-old, who was allegedly trained by Pakistan-based terror group Tehrik-i-Taliban, from Balapur in connection with the Burdwan blast case.

NIA officials claimed that Khaled alias Khaled Mohammed, was a trained Improvised Explosive Device expert, and had a laptop with ‘Jihadi’ literature including that relating to ISIS.

The officials earlier said that this is the seventh arrest in connection with the Burdwan blast case of October 2, in which two persons died inside a house after the IED they were making exploded accidentally.

On October 2, an explosion occurred in a house in the Khagragarh locality of Burdwan. Two suspected Indian Mujahideen terrorists were killed and a third one was injured. The police seized 55 IEDs, RDX, wristwatch dials and SIM cards from the explosion site.
