House, factory gutted in fires

NOIDA: A door lock manufacturing unit in Sector 4 and a house in Sector 52 were gutted in two separate fires in the city on Wednesday.
Police said the fire was reported from the unit on Wednesday morning.
Two fire tenders were initially sent to the spot. At least 10 more fire tenders had to be called from adjacent stations later as the blaze was massive. It took two hours to douse the fire, said Sushil Kumar Yadav, fire officer, Noida.
"The three-storey building was badly damaged, but nobody was seriously injured. Goods worth lakh of rupees were destroyed in the fire. Most probably a short circuit caused the fire but the exact cause is yet to be ascertained," Yadav said.
Another fire broke out in a house located in Sector 52. Fire safety officials said it was controlled within half an hour by a fire tender. However, all the furniture and valuables inside the house were destroyed.
