KANPUR: Three miscreants looted cash worth Rs 3 lakh at gunpoint from the house of one Dharam Chandra Agarwal, an LIC agent, at New Defence colony in Gandhigram area of Chakeri police station on Tuesday morning.
Shashi Devi Agarwal (68), was in her house while her husband, Dharam Chandra Agarwal had gone to a nearby Shiv Temple when the robbers entered at around 10.30am.
According to Shashi Devi, she was cooking when the robbers entered the house from the main door which was bolted from outside by her husband. The trio seemed to be in the age group of 24-28. They used local slangs.
“One among the robbers was carrying a pistol. He dragged my wife inside the kitchen and threatened her to give him the cash and valuables. When she resisted, he threatened to shoot her,” said Agarwal.
He claimed that the robbers escaped through the rear door of the house which suggested that they knew the topography of the area well. Robbers remained in the house for 10 minutes, according to the victims. “It is not clear whether the robbers came on a two-wheeler,” said a police official. The police are trying to collect the evidences from the spot to get a clue about the robbers. SP east, Prabhakar Chowdhary visited the spot. “We have called a dog squad and forensic experts,” said the SP. A case has been registered with the Chakeri police station in this connection.
