Children's Day, Diwali cheer up hospital kids

It was a memorable day for kids who are being treated at the ICU and wards of regional advanced pediatric care centre of Government Wenlock Hospital.

MANGALURU: It was a memorable day for kids who are being treated at the ICU and wards of regional advanced pediatric care centre of Government Wenlock Hospital. For, they celebrated Children's Day and Diwali in the hospital, which was organized by the department of pediatrics of KMC Hospital for hospitalized children and kids from orphans.
While they celebrated the event with music and dance programmes, other activities such as Kalladka gombe (doll) dance and skits were organized to keep them busy.

Crackers were also burst on the occasion to give them a feel of Diwali.
For the last three years, KMC pediatrics department has been organizing such events for kids in November.
Later, citizens council, Ganapathi Bhandarkar and Sons and other organizations, too, joined hands with the KMC team to make the event more colourful.
Children, who are being treated at the ICU and wards of Regional Advanced Pediatric Care Centre of Government Wenlock Hospital and many kids from orphanages celebrated the day with dance, music and lot of other fun filled events. The event was specially organised by the department of pediatrics of KMC Hospital for hospitalized children and little ones from orphans.While children under treatment were amused and enjoyed the music bands, skits, fun games, Kalladka gombe (doll) dance and other entertainments, fireworks brought them Diwali live again.

Wearing colourful caps, children danced to the music beats and made the event fun filled.
In fact, the KMC pediatrics department team has been organising the event in November for the past three years. Citizens Council, Ganapathi Bhandarkar and Sons and other organizations too joined hands with KMC team to make the event more colourful for children.
Dr Kiran Baliga, assistant professor, KMC, said that the main objective of holding such programmes is to make the kids happy and help them celebrate such occasions even when they are in the hospital. "We have made arrangements to enthrall nearly 100 children, who are in the ICU and wards"
"Also, children from orphanages have also been given the opportunity to take part in the event," Bringing smiles in those children throughout the programme bring happiness in all of us," Dr Kiran said added.
