MANGALURU: Dakshina Kannada unit of Bharatiya Janata Party is moving towards ensuring a systematic membership registration drive by opening a separate office for the purpose at Jagannath Joshi Soudha, party head office here on Friday. Former Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar will inaugurate the membership registration office in the presence of Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, state BJP general secretary Sunil Kumar, state vice-president Sulochana G K Bhat among others.
Sanjeev Mattandur, district membership campaign chief and general secretary of the party unit stated that the party has already started a nationwide membership campaign drive that Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched on November 1. The district unit too has drawn up a systematic membership campaign plan in this regard. Steps have been taken to organise membership workshops for party cadre in all assembly constituency segments in the district before November 30.
Stating that the district level workshop has already been held, Sanjeev said the district unit of the party has drawn up an ambitious plan to enroll 3 lakh members during the campaign that ends on March 31, 2015. Those interested in becoming members can call 1800-266-2020 and this kickstarts a process of enrolment. The party cadre will undertake a door-to-door campaign from March 1 to 31 next year with an aim to enroll atleast 200 members from each of the 1766 election booths in the district.
