The parents of a boy killed in the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School have added a new member to their family.

Francine and David Wheeler welcomed baby Matthew Bennett Wheeler on Nov. 5. He weighed a healthy 8 pounds and 8 ounces.

“It’s kind of miraculous in a lot of ways,” David Wheeler, 53, told the New York Daily News of the addition. He said his wife, Francine, 47, was "doing really well."

The Wheelers lost their 6-year-old son, Benjamin, during the massacre at the Newtown, Connecticut elementary school. The young boy was one of 20 students and six staff members killed by Adam Lanza on Dec. 14, 2012.

The organization Ben’s Lighthouse was recently established by friends and loved ones of the Wheelers to honor Benjamin and his Sandy Hook classmates.

The Wheelers also have another son, 11-year-old Nate, who is “absolutely thrilled” to be a big brother again, his father said. “He’s already learned to feed him and change him and get him to sleep,” he said. “It’s such a beautiful thing to watch the two of them together — and see now they have each other.”
