Goods train jumps off track in Bokaro

An empty wagon of a goods train which got derailed while going towards the shunting yard near Bokaro railway station disrupted rail movement for several hours between Chandrapura-Ranchi railway routes under Adra Railway Division here on Tuesday.

BOKARO: An empty wagon of a goods train which got derailed while going towards the shunting yard near Bokaro railway station disrupted rail movement for several hours between Chandrapura-Ranchi railway routes under Adra Railway Division here on Tuesday.
More than a dozen trains got affected on the route due to the incident. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.
Railway sources said that six trains were cancelled, one was diverted while more than eight trains were delayed.
Area Railway Manager, Bokaro Railway, Kuldeep Tewary said that an inquiry has been instituted to ascertain the reason due to which wagon derailed.
The incident occurred at around 3.15 am on the down line of the route. The last wagon of the goods train got derailed and hit electricity poles which was moving towards Shunting Yard after unloading the raw materials in Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL) that.
Following the incident the train movement was affected in both down and up line of Bokaro-Ranchi route.
Both up and down trains including Dhanbad-Ranchi Intercity, Dhanbad-Muri passenger and Dhanbad-Hatia passenger were cancelled. Maurya Express was diverted through Barkakana and Baidyanath Dham express was rescheduled.Many other trains including, Allepy-Dhanbad Express, Bokaro-Howrah passenger, Shatabdi Express, Janshatabdi Express, Dhanbad-Jhargram passengers and others were delayed.
"The wagon after jumping off the track hit the electricity pole following which overhead electricity wires were broken. Two poles were damaged. However the traffic has been restored by evening on both the tracks," said Tewary.
