Minister for Industries P.K.. Kunhalikutty said on Tuesday that there would be no compromise in the protection of interests of cashew workers.

Mr. Kunhalikutty was addressing the gathering after launching two new value-added cashew products, Choco Kaju and Milky Kaju, of the public sector Kerala State Cashew Development Corporation (KSCDC).

The Minister said the government had always extended out of the way concessions to the KSCDC and the cooperative sector Capex. These were social security measures by the government taking into account the fact that the two companies were being run for the welfare of cashew workers, the majority of them women. He said the situation at many public sector undertakings was not satisfactory.

The Industries Minister said the government would extend all support to the new products. He said the government would also support a proposal by the KSCDC to organise an international cashew expo in Kollam.
